Panda velká:
Panda velká se svou černobíle zbarvenou srstí s charakteristickým vzorem je jedním z nejznámějších a zároveň nejvzácnějších a nejohroženějších savců světa.
Na první pohled se panda velká podobá medvědům, ale řadu znaků má společnou s šelmami medvídkovitými. Ačkoliv původně byla typickou šelmou, je dnes mírumilovným vegeteriánem, který se živí téměř výhradně bambusem.
ROZMNOŽOVÁNÍ
- Doba páření je jediným obdobím z celého roku, kdy se jinak zapřisáhle samotářské pandy setkávají.
- Po pětiměsíční březosti přichází na svět v hnízdě z bambusu většinou jediné mládě.
ZPŮSOB ŽIVOTA
- Panda velká je samotář, který dvě třetiny dne věnuje shánění a požírání potravy.
- Ve zbývajícím čase odpočívá.
- Umí šplhat na stromy, ale této dovednosti využívá jen tehdy, pokud je ohrožena nepřáteli.
POTRAVA
- Ačkoliv panda velká patří v zoologickém systému mezi šelmy, její jídelníček se téměř výhradně skládá ze stonků, listů a mladých výhonků různých druhů bambusu. každý den musí spořádat deset až dvacet kilogramů bambusů. Protože při hledání potravy panda velká nepotřebuje příliš svůj zrak, má tento smysl vyvinut jen slabě.
PANDA VELKÁ A ČLOVĚK
- Donedávna byl člověk pro pandu velkou úhlavním nepřítelem.
- Za její ulovení například hrozí velmi těžké tresty.
- Aby se počet pand alespoň trochu zvýšil, bylo na území, kde žilo 500 až 600 zvířat, zřízeno několik rezervací.
ZVLÁŠTNÍ PŘIZPŮSOBIVOST
- Zvláštnímu složení své potravy se panda velká dokonale přizpůsobila.
DŮLEŽITÉ ZNAKY
- Tělesné rozměry:
- Výška: stojící samec 1,5 m, samice o něco menší
- Hmotnost: až 120 kg, samice méně
Rozmnožování:
- Pohlavní dospělost: v 5. - 6 roce
- Období rozmnožování: od března do května
- Délka březosti: 5 měsíců
- Počet mláďat: zpravidla 1
Způsob života:
- Chování: samotář
- Potrava: především bambus, dále lesní plody, květy, houby, pupeny stromů, příležitostně ptačí vejce
ŽIVOTNÍ CYKLUS BAMBUSOVÝCH LESŮ
- Zhruba každých 50 let ohromné plochy bambusových porostů naráz vykvetou a vzápětí odumřou.
- Naposledy k tomuto jevu došlo v roce 1983.
- Pro pandy to znamená smrt hladem, neboť neprojdou přes obydlená území do jiných, zachovalých bambusových porostů.
VÝSKYT
- Jihozápadní Čína, především hory Quionglai, Daxiangling, Xiaoxiongling a Lian v provincii S-čhuan a hory Min v pohoří Qinling v provincii Šan-si.
OCHRANA DRUHU
- Panda velká je bezprostředně ohrožena mizením bambusových lesů.
- V současné době žije jen asi 900 zvířat.
